December 14 Music is Your Ali
30 Minute Sessions: 1 Student per Session

The Music Is Your Ali program is currently offering instruction in piano, guitar and drums. Students 12 and up are invited to join us each Saturday, for free 30-minute music lessons thanks, in part, to the support of the Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation. Take this opportunity to grow your skill and fuel your passion!

December 14 Mixed Media Workshop
In this workshop led by Kimberly Maxwell, participants will create using multiple materials: dry media, wet media, collage, fabric, random objects, anything goes! Use a mixture of materials of your choice in this workshop; learn multi-media tips and techniques with color, texture, and a variety of surfaces. Explore the endless possibilities of mixed media art. Ages 16+

December 14 Florida Youth Orchestra Encore Ensemble presents Holiday Musical Cheers
ENCORE!! This word signifies appreciation for a successful performance, where an enthusiastic audience demands additional music to lengthen the program. But – to the Florida Youth Orchestra – “ENCORE” is the name of its highly acclaimed chamber ensemble that features South Florida’s most gifted young talent, ages 12-17. Performing great classical string repertoire, ENCORE brings elegance to venues throughout South Florida each year. Adding to the holiday joy is the Orchestra’s delightful “Zephyr Winds” performing lilting selections featuring the wind instruments that play within orchestras. Enjoy these Florida Youth Orchestra musicians in the intimate setting of the Bailey Contemporary Arts Gallery at 3 PM on Saturday, December 14.

December 17 Lunch with Art: Music Edition
Take a break from your day, bring your lunch and let music soothe your soul! These informative and relaxing sessions will introduce you to various forms of music, followed by a group discussion. Each melody becomes an escape from the daily stresses of life and reminds us how music is a universal language that we can all understand. Guests are invited to bring their lunch and a friend. Light refreshments are available

December 18 Lunch with Art – the Visual Arts Edition
Trying new things has been proven to make you more creative, and it’s good for your brain. So each Wednesday we offer a new way to nourish your soul & get creative at The Bailey Contemporary Arts during your lunch hour…and it’s FREE!

No two weeks are the same as each new workshop offers a different creative experience and encourages you to step out of the mundane and explore your potential. Each simple, hands-on project becomes an escape from the daily stresses of life and reminds you how beauty can be found in even the most simplest of projects.

Guests are invited to bring their lunch, or grab a bite to eat from Blooming Bean Coffee Roasters, located in our West Gallery.

To ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy this program, seats will be available on a First-Come, First-Serve Basis, and Space Is Limited! However, even if our workshop reaches capacity, guests are able to explore the newest exhibits in our gallery, take the time to learn about upcoming programs, workshops, volunteer opportunities, and spend some time enjoying a coffee while unwinding in our West Gallery.

Lyrics Lab is a unique, no-ego, open-mic night every 3rd Wednesday of the month.

December 18 Curator Lecture with Aldeide Delgado
Bailey Contemporary Arts is proud to present a lecture by Aldeide Delgado founder and director of Women Photographers International Archive (WOPHA) in conjunction with the exhibition Building a Feminist Archive: Cuban Women Photographers in the U.S. After the lecture, members from the audience are welcome to join Lyrics Lab in the Main Gallery.

December 19 Opening Reception for Through Their Eyes Exhibition
For this holiday season, we invited Pompano Beach’s young artists to submit artwork that reflects their view of the world through their eyes. Artwork selected is exhibited at the Historic Ali Cultural Arts. Artwork was submitted in digital form and staff provided assistance to those that needed help in digitizing their artwork.
